Drivin halfway along the road from Strakonice to České Budějovice you will pass through open country, bordered in the south by the Šumava peaks and dotted with the gleaming surfaces of ponds with enormous oak trees lining their banks and along the paths. From afar you can see the church towers of Vodňany, a town surrounded by water and connected with water.
